Power lines burn in Renton house fire

Power lines are down in Renton after a home caught fire Wednesday morning. Crews fought the fire at a home in the 3300 block of Northeast 11th Street near Monroe Avenue South. Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. At first, crews had to fight the fire from the outside because power lines were on the lawn in front and they couldn't acess the front of the house.

Update: Battle Ground Council approves fire contract with Fire District 3

During a regular Battle Ground City Council meeting the evening of Sept. 8, city council members voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement for fire and emergency medical services with Clark County Fire District 3. Fire District 3 will begin to provide their services to the city beginning Jan.

Clallam Co. Fire District No. 4 memorializes deceased volunteers in Joyce bell-ringing ceremony

Clallam County Fire District No. 4 remembered more than 140 deceased volunteers in a memorial bell-ringing ceremony in Joyce. Bagpipers Thomas McCurdy and Nathan Carroll, both of Port Angeles, opened Saturday's ceremony with traditional bagpipe music. After Fire Chief Alex Baker read each volunteer name, the bell tolled once.
