On Tuesday around 11 p.m., a Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy was called out to report of a man waving a shot gun in the road. The Deputy, called and asked Brandon Hale, Westbrook Fire Chief to keep an eye on the suspect from a distance until he got there. When the deputy had arrived the suspect had already made his way back to his residence, the deputy went to locate him.

Tension between the Talkeetna Fire Department and Matanuska-Susitna Borough fire chiefs potentially threatens to leave this Susitna Valley climbing and tourist destination without a hometown firefighting force. An Ellis County grand jury indicted seven volunteer firefighters, including the department's chief and assistant chief, on Wednesday in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a fellow male firefighter with a chorizo sausage in January, according to media reports. Five firefighters with the Emergency Service District Number 6 Volunteer Fire Department in Waxachachie have been indicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault and attempted aggravated sexual assault: Keith Edward Wisakowsky, 26; Casey Joe Stafford, 30; Preston Thomas Peyrot, 19; Alec Chase Miller, 28; and Blake Jerold Tucker, 19.

Dennis Rodeman survived a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Marines. He was killed on Wednesday while collecting donations for a charity in Lansing, the victim of what police are calling a deliberate hit-and-run crash on the city's south side. Rodeman, 35, was a seven-year veteran of the Lansing Fire Department.
