Utah firefighter suffers serious injury, station damaged after ‘freak accident’ involving fireworks

PHOTOS: A volunteer firefighter suffered burns on his hands and face after a “freak accident” involving fireworks at a fire station in Marysvale Thursday. Ann Kennedy, a Marysvale City Council Member, said the firefighter was helping to take about 70 fireworks out of the Marysvale Fire Station to be set up on a hill for a fireworks display Thursday night.

Badly burned Virginia firefighter, 16, remains in hospital

A 16-year-old Marshall volunteer firefighter underwent seven hours of surgery and skin grafts Wednesday to treat burns suffered Sunday morning. Several fire districts in Pierce County asking voters to approve levies on Aug. 4 ballots

As fire season rages on, a total of seven fire districts in Pierce County are asking voters for some help on the Aug. 4 ballots. One of those is West Pierce Fire & Rescue, which serves Lakewood and University Place. It is asking voters to approve a levy that would cost property owners $1.35 for every $1,000 of assessed value in 2016.

Multiple blazes keeping Vancouver fire investigators busy

Investigators at the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office have been busy this week investigating numerous fires that have ranged in damage from scorching vegetation to displacing families from their homes. The uptick led the agency to send out a press release reminding Vancouver residents that a burn ban remains in effect and illegal burns could result in citations.
