One dead in 2-car crash in Tacoma

One person was killed in a two-car crash in Tacoma Friday morning. Tacoma fire said the head-on crash occurred at 19th Avenue and M Street. A Ford truck and a car collided. The Ford was put on a flatbed truck to be taken from the scene. KIRO 7 News video shows that it appears that firefighters had to cut the roof off the car to free its driver.

Crews make progress on Little Spokane Fire

Firefighters have made some progress knocking down the Little Spokane Fire in Riverside State Park, which is 20 percent contained following a buildup of personnel and equipment on scene. Two additional 20-person firefighting crews were assigned to the fire yesterday, for a total of seven. They’ve built a line around the entire perimeter of the fire, which has burned about 176 acres since starting Monday.

Update: Man arrested after trash burns out of control, kills 79-year-old in Thurston County

Police arrested a man on a felony warrant Friday following a deadly house fire sparked from a trash burn. According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, fire crews were called to a report of two homes on fire Wednesday morning in the 3200 block of 78th Street SE. Crews arrived on the scene and worked to put out the fires, which were aided by debris, ammunition and propane tanks scattered around the homes.

'Pretend' Indiana firefighter charged in station break-in

A suspect in the burglary of a LaPorte County fire station allegedly dressed as a firefighter during another break-in outside New Carlisle this week but also stole a firetruck from another department and a backhoe from a U.S. Army Reserve Center several years ago. Franklin Powell, 25, also pretended to have his own fire department that he listed on Facebook with references to himself as ''Chief Powell.

Video: California firefighter in altercation with man videoing patient

A member of the San Diego Fire Rescue Department angrily confronted and allegedly grabbed the arm of a photojournalist and pushed him backward as he was filming an ambulance crew wheeling a patient out of the 2015 Comic Con. The video, by J.C. Playford, cuts away from an interview when an ambulance cot with a female patient is wheeled onto the sidewalk outside the Hard Rock Café Tuesday night.
