Taunton firefighters executed a “daring” rescue of a disabled woman at a mobile home in the city that became consumed by flames in the early hours on Monday, said a lieutenant for the department. A spectacular fire destroyed Eugene's historic Civic Stadium on Monday evening and prompted the temporary evacuation of a two-block area, the fire chief said. Fire crews found flames shooting twice the height of the structure when they were called to the stadium at about 5:30 p.m., police spokesman John Hankemeier said.

It has been two years since the tragedy at Yarnell Hill – 19 Arizona firefighters died battling that blaze on June 30, 2013. On Monday, the families of 12 of those firefighters announced they've reached a settlement in their lawsuit against the state. The 12 families in the suit will each receive $50,000 for their loss.

A pilot and passenger were injured Monday night when their small plane crashed into a tree on Whidbey Island. The Cessna 182, which took off from Monroe, lost power at about 8:12 p.m and slammed into a tree behind a home on the island, according to Ed Wallace with the Island County sheriff's office.
