It was already going to be a big week for Brandon Furrer. The Mason County volunteer and Department of Natural Resources firefighter was planning to get married on Saturday. Then, things got complicated.
"We've been working non-stop for three weeks," said Furrer. "I just want to do it tonight. That way, we're married before I head out.

The memorial service for three firefighters who died while battling the Okanogan Complex of wildfires will be Sunday in Wenatchee.
Officials say the service will begin at 1 p.m. at the Toyota Center in the central Washington city.
Three firefighters were killed and four injured when flames overtook them Wednesday while they were fighting the Okanogan Complex.

A charter boat captain from Kitsap County said he wasn't about to let burglars off the hook after they stole his fishing gear. Instead, Captain Randy Jones took off after the alleged thieves in a chase that had a fiery ending.
Police say two burglary suspects managed to get out of their van just moments before it burst into flames near the Bremerton Airport early Sunday.

As Washington state's wildfires burned into the record books Monday, calls for help were answered from far and near.
Fire managers from New Zealand and Australia arrived to contribute to a ground campaign led by firefighters from across the West and augmented by U.S. soldiers.
The flames that claimed the lives of three firefighters, injured four others and burned 200 homes also inspired an outpouring of volunteers who have been invited for the first time in state history to help battle the blazes.

A team of juvenile inmates helping the firefight in eastern Washington was pulled from the fire line Monday after one of the troubled teens escaped and tried to take his own life.
A team of 20 juvenile inmates from the Nesalle Youth Camp had been part of a program working alongside the Department of Natural Resources, helping bring Washington's relentless fires under control.
