A spectacular fire destroyed a home west of Port Angeles and threatened to burn another house and cause a wildfire. Just before five last evening, Clallam Fire District Two was called to 21 Whispering Firs Road off Lower Elwha Road, where a two story single family home was fully engulfed in flames. The next door neighbor’s home and vehicle were in immediate jeopardy of catching fire.

Deputy fire Chief Daniel Nolan, suspended with pay since April pending an investigation into his actions at a fire department task force hearing, has received a 30-day unpaid suspension following an administrative hearing.
