Follow Up: FDNY lieutenant thanks fallen firefighter William Moon’s widow for life-saving organ

An FDNY lieutenant received a life-saving lung transplant from fallen firefighter William “Billy” Moon — and, in a heartfelt tribute from his hospital bed, thanked the hero’s widow for donating her late husband’s organs. Lt. Terrence Jordan is among five people — and two members of New York’s Bravest — to whom Moon’s organs were donated after the 47-year-old dad of two died during a training accident at his Brooklyn firehouse in December.

Texas fire truck stolen from motel as its crew treated patient, department says

PHOTOS: Fire leaves Yakima machine shop in shambles

An early morning fire left a Yakima machine shop in shambles, according to a post from Yakima Firefighters IAFF Local 469. Fire crews say they responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of West Washington. They say the fire quickly spread throughout the shop, Marvin Mayhak & Son's Inc. due to the machinery inside.

Follow Up: Ballard brewery owner nearly loses business to homeless fire

Bad Jimmy’s Brewing Co., a popular brewery in Ballard, was nearly destroyed last weekend after a fire, created by a homeless person in an attempt to stay warm, nearly engulfed the property in flames. Jason Shrum, one of the brewery’s co-owners, caught the incident on surveillance video and believed it could have been much worse.
