Mission Statement

The objectives of this Division shall be to further enhance the education of all Fire Service Administrative Support by conducting workshops and seminars; to increase the proficiency of Fire Administrative Support by establishing a network sharing of information systems through various channels of communication; and to faciliate a statewide standardization wherever possible in all phases and aspects of the Fire Administrative Support field for the benefit of the Fire Service.

A two-alarm house fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage and displaced five people Sunday evening in Vancouver’s Old Evergreen Highway neighborhood. Technical rescue crews from Vancouver and Fire District 6 were called to Beacon Rock State Park in Skamania County Saturday evening after an injured climber was reported to be stranded 150 feet above the ground. The assistance calls came in around 8:20 p.m. According to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian, a woman was climbing on the south side of the rock when she slipped and fell 15 feet, possibly dislocating her knee.

A man has been arrested in connection with an apartment fire that started early Saturday morning. Seattle firefighters rescued a woman from a second-story window on S. Thistle St., as flames quickly spread through a South Park apartment complex. Four other residents escaped the fire unharmed. One firefighter was briefly taken to the hospital due to overheating.

Five buildings and 11,000 tons of hay were lost in a structure fire at Inland Tarp and Cover two miles west of Moses Lake Friday morning. No one was injured in the fire. The Grant County Sheriff's Office reports the fire was started accidentally when employees at Inland Tarp and Cover were using a metal chop saw and sparks from the saw ignited nearby combustibles.

Yakima fire department responded to a quick-moving fire in the area of N. 6th Ave. and River Road that damaged three buildings Thursday night. Firefighters say windy conditions caused the fire to move quickly, and fire crews battled the fire on two fronts and were able to get the fire under control quickly.

Two young boys lost their lives in an apartment fire in Colville early Friday morning. It started just before 2 in the morning on the 400 block of North Cedar Avenue. According to Fire Chief Brad Manke with the Colville Fire Department, the fire had already progressed to a stage that firefighters were unable to make entry.

A disabled minivan caught fire Thursday evening and sparked a brush fire off I-5 in Lacey. A man driving a minivan northbound on I-5 near Meridian Road noticed smoke coming from his vehicle at about 7:20 p.m. He pulled over to the shoulder, and as soon as he got out of the van he saw flames coming from underneath the vehicle's front end, according to Washington State trooper Guy Gill.

Mariann Crooks has already had a busy summer - this is her 2nd summer serving as a volunteer firefighter for Fire District 1. "I have 2 kids still at home," she said. "They run downstairs to see if I'm still there, because I usually get called out at night."
