Tivoli (NY) Fire Company Welcomes Fire Apparatus and Ambulance

The Tivoli Fire Company will welcome a fire truck and ambulance, reports Mid Hudson News.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Our Wetdown is being done to celebrate the arrival of our 2 new emergency vehicles that have recently replaced the ones we lost in the fire. There will be multiple fire companies in attendance all of who played a vital role in helping us rebuild and get back on our feet. This celebration is open to the public and is a free event for everyone!! Children will be able to see a variety of different fire apparatus as well as enjoy food, raffles, and purchase commemorative merchandise.”

The wetdown ceremony will kick off a campaign to raise funds for a new addition to the firehouse. The expansion will include a new Red Cross Emergency Shelter and multi-purpose space for community activities.

The capital campaign goal is $3 million, with funds coming from private donations and public funding.

Homewood (AL) Fire Apparatus in Head-On Accident

A Homewood fire truck was involved in head on collision, reports WBRC 6.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Engine one was out checking hydrants this morning. They were hit head on by another vehicle. Fortunately crew members were out of the truck. Luckily no one was injured. This is a reminder to please slow down.”

The driver of the truck was taken away in handcuffs, but authorities say the arrest was not related to the accident.

Montgomery County (MD) Fire Apparatus in Accident

A fire truck was struck while providing scene safety blocking for a separate accident, reports The Moco Show.

The Chief spokesperson for the fire department tweeted, “NB I270 North of Montrose Rd., @mcfrs PE726 (Bethesda) struck by vehicle while on scene (previous collision), 1 @mcfrs FF transported NLT, PE726 is damaged but drivable, but currently OOS, passenger vehicle with moderate damage.”

Freeport (ME) Council Approves New Fire Apparatus

Freeport officials approved spending about $648,000 for a new fire truck, reports The Times Record.

The new truck will replace two engines that are 1990 and 2001 models. The two older trucks will be put out to bid. The new truck will combine the uses of the two older trucks into one piece of equipment. The fire department will have two engines, one latter truck, three rescue trucks, a brush truck and a service pickup truck.

The new fire truck is estimated to arrive in about 10 months. The truck will be custom built in Florida and hold 2,500 gallons of water as well as four firefighters.
