Mantoloking (NJ) Fire Company 1 Close to Getting New Mini Pumper

Mantoloking (NJ) Fire Company 1 and the borough officials have shown interest in purchasing a new mini pumper, reports starnewsgroup.com, following a presentation at a council meeting earlier this week.

The apparatus, a Ford model built to NFPA standards, will be much smaller than the department’s ladder truck, which is approaching its 25-year lifespan, but can pump more water, the report says.

Officials estimate its cost at about $9,000. The next council meeting is set for October 19, though it’s unclear whether the next purchasing steps will be ready to be taken by then.

Paw Paw (MI) Planning for Fire Station

The groundbreaking for the $5.9 million project is planned for a fire station, reports MLive.com.

The current fire station has three bays, while the new station will have five double bays. The planning for the station started in 2012.

When the department moved into the station in 1974, no one expected the need to fit a 105-foot aerial truck.

The fire station will have modern features like a decontamination room, industrial washers for the gear and space to clean the air packs.

The department hopes to buy a water rescue boat after the move into the new space.
