Polk County (FL) Approves $3.2M for Five New Apparatus

On the heels of a $68 million health investment into its fire stations, Polk County (FL) has approved the purchase of five new fire engines at a total cost of about $3.2 million, reports theledger.com.

Two of the apparatus will replace aging vehicles, while the other three will be added to the fleet, according to the report.

The county commission made way for the trucks in October when it approved its $2.1 billion budget, which included a 5% increase to the fire fee, the report says.

Officials say the county should take delivery of the new apparatus within 12 months.

Leland (NC) Fire and Rescue Welcomes Engine 51

Leland (NC) Fire and Rescue recently welcomed its new apparatus, Engine 51, with a push-in ceremony.

“This engine was designed by our staff to fit the needs of our department to BE READY to respond and protect our community. Thank you for everyone’s hard work and support to make this happen,” the department writes on Facebook.

Dennis (MA) Voters Approve $14.6M Fire Station

Dennis (MA) voters approved a proposition Tuesday to support the construction of the new $14.6 million Fire Station 2 on Paddocks Path, reports capecodtimes.com.

It passed 722 to 153 with only about 7% of voters showing up, the report says. The vote allows the town to raise the annual property tax rate by more than 2.5%.
