Butler (PA) Prepares to Take Delivery of $1.35 Million Aerial

The Butler (PA) Fire Department is expecting to receive a $1.35 million aerial later this month after the city made the final payment on the new apparatus, according to a report published by ButlerRadio.com.

The radio station said the new aerial is a 2021 Pierce 100-foot mid-mount tower built on an Arrow XT cab and chassis. It will replace a 1998 aerial the city sold about three years ago in partially functioning condition, the station reported.

The new aerial is at a facility in Zelienople where it is being fitted with radios and other equipment as well as undergoing final inspection, the station reported.

Butler officials ordered the new aerial about a year ago and have been making payments while awaiting delivery, the final payment of $490,000 was approved this past week, the station reported.

Ellicott Creek Volunteers Get Grant for New Aerial

A $900,000 federal grant will help the Ellicott Creek (NY) Volunteer Fire Company buy a new 100-foot rear-mount aerial, according to a report published by WIVB 4.

The television station reported the new truck will replace a 39-year-old unit that does not have all the safety features of current apparatus.

When in service, the firefighters with the department based in Amherst (NY) will have the most up-to-date equipment to keep first responders safe, the station reported, adding that the grant was the largest to any in New York state this year.

Kern County (CA) Gets New Fire Engine for Rosamond Station

A new fire engine was delivered to the Kern County Fire Station in Rosamond (CA) to replace one with 330,000, according to a report published by the Mojave Desert News.

The old engine will be retired and used to train new firefighters, the newspaper reported, adding that the new engine is state of the art.

According to Pierce Mfg., the new pumper is built on an Enforcer cab and chassis, powered by a Detroit Diesel DD13 505 hp engine and has a 1,500-gpm pump, a FoamPro foam system and a 750-gallon tank.

Clark County (NV) Fire Department Apparatus Overturns

A Clark County (NV) Fire Department ladder truck overturned at the eastbound 215 and southbound Interstate 15 interchange early Friday morning, reports ktnv.com, sending three firefighters to the hospital.

The accident happened around 6:15 a.m. Friday, and it sent the three firefighters to University Medical Center with minor injuries, the report says.

The crash closed the interchange. Officials say there’s no indication as to the cause of the crash.
