Minutes after a 2021 E-One pumper was placed in service, the newly dedicated fire enginge responded to its first alarm, reports The Belmontonian.

The pumper features a 1,500 gallon per minute pump, integrated foam delivery system and has been configured to support a modern fire service. Engine 2 also has the capability to support hazardous materials responses, technical rescue incidents, and provide advanced life support medical care.

The Medford City Council authorized the purchase of a custom-built $823,743 pumper truck, reports Mail Tribune.

The pumper will be able to deliver up to 1,500 gallons a minute if connected to a hydrant or tender, along with a 750-gallon tank.

The new pumper will offer new benefits to the fire department:

• Hoses will be placed lower on the rig to prevent minor injuries.
• A shorter wheelbase for more ability to maneuver around city streets.

The price of the fire truck will rise in September due to an increase of the cost of steel. So, the fire department and city plan to pay for the truck before that date.

Medford Fire-Rescue last bought a new pumper in 2015, at a cost of $731,200.

One of the reserve pumpers will be retired after 25 years of service when the new rig arrives, and one of the older frontline pumpers will be put in reserve.

Money from the American Rescue Plan Act will cover the cost for most of three new fire trucks for the Victorville (CA) Fire Department, according to the Victorville Daily Press.

The city council recently voted to purchase the three new fire engines and an exhaust extraction for $2.7 million with just a small portion of the funds coming from general funds, the newspaper reported.

The money for the trucks is part of the $33.5 million Victorville’s allocation of the federal rescue plan, the paper reported.

The new trucks will replace some that were built 25 years ago, or more and have cost the city money to keep on the road, the newspaper reported.

By contract, the new trucks will be built 12 to 13 months, according to the report.
