Wiggins (MS) Fire Department Will Soon Get New Aerial

Wiggins (MS) will soon have a new fire aerial in service as final assembly finishes up at the factory, according to a report published by the Stone County Enterprise.

The newspaper reported the engine, which has been in the plans since 2019, could arrive by September 30. The new apparatus will have a 75-foot ladder and a pump according to the newspaper report. When it arrives, it will replace the city’s oldest engine, a 36-year-old unit called Engine No. 7.

The new apparatus, which cost about $700,000, will be called Ladder No. 10 and be stationed in Wiggins, but expected to respond to other incidents in the area, according to the newspaper.

City of Odessa (TX) to Host Groundbreaking for Station 6

The City of Odessa (TX) will host a public groundbreaking at 1:30 p.m. today for its new Station 6 at the southwest corner of Pembroke and Grandview, reports oaoa.com.

The new digs is one of several projects being paid for by $93 million certificates of obligation approved by city council in 2019, the reports says. In addition, the funds are being used to build a new animal shelter.

Wyandotte (MI) Fire Department to Receive a $504k AFG Grant for SCBA

The Wyandotte (MI) Fire Department is set to receive a $504,636 AFG Grant that will pay for new self-contained breathing apparatus, reports thenewsherald.com.

Officials say a collaboration with many regional fire department partners across southeast Michigan enabled the department to secure the funding.

White Oak (TX) Budgets for New Fire Engine

White Oak (TX) firefighters could have a new fire truck within a year after city councilors approved a budget with money in it for a new engine, according to a report published by KLTV 7 ABC.

According to the television station, the new engine will likely cost around $600,000 and will replace one that was built in 1998.

With the approval, firefighters have begun the process of designing the new engine and looking for a builder to make it, the newspaper reported. It’s likely to take a year before the new engine arrives, according to the report which also indicated that the current engine 1 will be moved down to the second responding unit and the oldest will be put up for sale or auction.
