The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Shoreline Fire Department (WA) Holds Push-In Ceremony for Fire Apparatus

The Shoreline Fire Department held a push-in for its new pumper fire truck, reports Shoreline Area News.

The $800,000 Pierce Manufacturing fire truck was the second fire engine to enter service this week. The fire trucks were custom built and are part of mutual aid agreements with other local departments. This engine has upgrades to assist firefighters respond to calls and assures reliability in service for many years to come.

Colorado Springs (CO) Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony for Fire Station

The Colorado Springs fire department held a ground-breaking ceremony for its newest fire station, reports KKTV 11.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “The CSFD had the ground breaking ceremony for Station 23 today. The building will be both a fire station and radio shop for the city. We are anticipating a July 2022 completion of the station/radio shop. Engine 23 currently is stationed out of our headquarters and has been living in converted training rooms and offices. We can’t wait for the new quarters to be built!”

The estimated cost for the project is roughly $5 million.

Williamston Fire Department (NC) Celebrate Fire Station Renovation

The Williamston Fire Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on a newly renovated fire station, reports WITN 7.

The renovation includes a 3,000-foot expansion to the original building. Other improvements include a new training room, an equipment bay and expanded storage space.

In attendance were local officials and representatives from the US Department of Agriculture.

Kingsport Fire Department (TN) Fire Apparatus Flips on Side

A Kingsport Fire Department fire truck flipped on its side, reports WJHL 11.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Around 1250pm Kingsport Fire Department Engine 6 was involved in a accident on Moreland Drive near John B. Dennis Highway. Engine 6 left the roadway and came to rest on it’s side. Two KFD Firefighters were treated on scene and one was transported by SCEMS to a local hospital for evaluation. The KFD would like to thank the Kingsport Life Saving Crew, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Kingsport Police Department and Sullivan County EMS for their quick response.”
