Firefighters with the Six Nations Fire and Emergency Services in Oshsweken, Ontario, Canada have put an orange wrap on its heavy rescue truck to commemorate the Every Child Matters and residential school survivors effort, according to a report published by The Chatham Daily News.

According to the newspaper, the wrapped rescue truck is stationed in the village of Ohsweken on Six Nations of the Grand River and will serve as a reminder of a major event that continues have effects not only in the indigenous and First Nation community but across Ontario.

The wrap on the 2.5—year old rescue truck was more cost effective than a paint job and was paid for with donation provided to the fire department, the newspaper reported.

Fire officials told the paper that the wrap will remain on the truck for the foreseeable future to make sure as many people as possible will see it and get its meaning.

Rapid City (SD) Fire Department Training Section Chief for Station 2 Nick Carlson stopped by KOTA TV to talk all things training.

He says that Station 2, the department’s oldest station, was converted to a training facility which now oversees the entire department’s training module.

Tampa (FL) City Council Approves $5M for Apparatus, Station Improvements

The Tampa (FL) City Council Tuesday approved spending millions for a new fire station, new equipment, and more resources to improve workload and response times, reports abcactionnews.com.

The budget allots roughly $5 million to improve fire protection in New and North Tampa, the report says. About $3.4 million of that will go toward creating and staffing a new Station 25—to be set up at a former West Waters Avenue station.

Officials say the new facility should be established in a year and a half at the latest.

The funds also go toward upgrades to New Tampa’s Station 21, a heavy-duty rescue vehicle for the station, and $880,000 to begin work on Fire Station 24, which will serve New Tampa, according to the report.
