Cal (CA) Fire Apparatus Involved in Rollover

A Cal (CA) Fire crew was involved in a rollover crash while responding to a spot fire on Buffalo Road in Auburn Thursday evening, reports FOX40.com. Officials say the engine crashed on Mount Vernon Road.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, and officials didn’t say how many firefighters were involved or the extent of any injuries, but some were hospitalized.

The apparatus will be taken to a facility as part of an investigation.

White Lake (NC) Volunteer Fire Department Receives $26k Grant

A $26,160 grant has been awarded to the White Lake (NC) Volunteer Fire Department, reports bladenjournal.com.

The money comes via the 2021 Volunteer Fire Department Fund from the State of North Carolina. It allows the department to purchase necessary equipment by using matching funds. The purchase does require approval by the Department of Insurance Office of the state fire marshal.

Since the program began 33 years ago, White Lake has received $245,061.77.

IL Fire Departments Get Grant Money for Fire Equipment

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that $3.3 million has been awarded to over 140 different fire departments and EMS providers, reports My Wabash Valley.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s 2021 Small Equipment Grant Program will provide the funding. The OSFM said it received 448 applications totaling $10.5 million in requests for this grant period.

The Martinsville Fire Protection District in Clark County, which will receive $26,000, and the City of Olney Fire Department in Richland County, which will receive more than $25,000. The maximum amount of money a department could receive was $26,000.

The grant money will be used to purchase new firefighting equipment and emergency service tools.
