Work on Manson’s (WA) Station 52 Delayed

Work has hit a snag on an upgrade to Manson’s (WA) Station 52 on Wapato Lake Road in Chelan County Fire District 5, reports kozi.com.

The work had been going on since the beginning of May, but incorrect measurements in the original plans set everything back. The project was originally expected to last about four and a half months.

There’s no word as to how long the delay will last, but officials say they expect to have their contractor commence work “shortly”.

Rochester (MN) Fire Department Trains on New Hazardous Materials Apparatus

The Rochester (MN) Fire Department (RFD) recently completed its quarterly hazmat drill with its new hazardous materials apparatus—Truck 42, which features different suits, leak plugs, and specialized technology, reports kttc.com.

However, although Truck 42 is new, much of its equipment has been around for some time. So training is imperative to get a feel for the apparatus.

RFD has a chemical assessment team trained to respond to hazmat situations across 11 counties in southeast Minnesota. The department also has classroom training sessions each month regarding how to handle the toxic chemicals.

On Heels of New 100-Foot Ladder, Marion (IL) Fire Department to Donate Old Apparatus

The Marion (IL) Fire Department’s new 100-foot ladder truck will be funded by a grant from the Harrison-Bruce Foundation, reports dailyrepublicannews.com. The apparatus has been ordered and is expected to be delivered in 2022.

Instead of selling the department’s old ladder trucks, the city will donate them to neighboring districts. A 1986 backup ladder is already in service with the Williamson County Fire Protection District, and the current ladder will go to Carterville once the new apparatus arrives.
