City of Cheboygan (MI) Sells Fire Apparatus

Cheboygan City Council members have approved selling a 1985 GMC 7000 Series fire truck for $3,335, reports Cheboygan Daily Tribune.

The 1985 truck had been taken out of commission when the city purchased a 2007 fire truck from the City of Petoskey last year, which also came with a generator and a JAWS of Life unit. The older truck was a very good condition for being more than 35 years old and had just over 14,000 miles on it.

The fire truck being sold has a 427 gasoline engine with a five speed manual transmission. It carries a 1,000 gallon water tank and a Hale pump that can pump 1,000 gallons per minute.

East Rockingham (NC) Fire Station Delayed

East Rockingham Fire Department’s fire station has been delayed, reports Richmond County Daily Journal.

The increase in the cost of metal and lumber has been a cause of the delay. There also isn’t an estimate of the total cost for the project. Plans have been in the works for nearly two years.

The ERFD has been setting money aside for this project for years, and has also been working with the County on securing funding.

The new fire station will have fire trucks and will be considered an “annex” of the primary building and would be more convenient for the firefighters.
