Chula Vista (CA) Unveils New $9M Fire Station

According to a report from NBC7, the Chula Vista (CA) Fire Department (CVFD) cut the ribbon on its brand-new fire station on Thursday.

Located at 341 Orange Avenue, it replaces the community’s 63-year-old Oxford Fire Station No. 5.

The upgrades at the new facility are designed to aid the CVFD’s goal of arriving at emergency calls within seven minutes at 90% of the time, which was also part of the reason for the station’s location.

At 12,310 square feet, the new station is also larger than the Oxford Fire Station and features three drive-through bays and 10 bunk rooms, giving the firefighters their own space. The increased space also houses more advanced, modern fire equipment. By April, the station will house five personnel for the city’s new Ambulance Transport Program.

Red Bluff (CA) Cuts Ribbon for New Fire Truck

According to a report from KRCR, the city of Red Bluff, California, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the city’s brand new fire truck that had its 100-foot ladder on full display.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with another ribbon-cutting for Red Bluff’s newly-completed Sacramento River Boat Ramp.

The Red Bluff Fire Department’s (RBFD’s) new $1.2 million 2020 ladder truck is a major upgrade, replacing its 1998 engine. RBFD Captain Mark Moyer said the new ladder will improve the response time of his crews as well as give them a better working ladder.

Lastly, Moyer said the biggest difference in the new truck is its 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump, an increase from the 1,500-gpm pump on the 1998 truck. It also offers the RBFD a larger cab.

Another major difference is the new ladder is city-owned rather than funded by the county.
