Cooper Donates Tires to Selected Stations in Need

Since 1985, the first week of May has been nationally recognized as Public Service Recognition Week. It’s a week dedicated to honoring and celebrating the hard work of our nation’s public servants, including first responders.

Inspired by this week of recognition, which ran from May 5-11 this year, Cooper Tires and the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) teamed up to honor first responders and give back to them with donations of new tires for their emergency vehicles. Cooper® and GSF are proud to recognize these brave men and women who demonstrate reliability during the toughest conditions.

First responders rely on a multitude of equipment to serve our communities and do their jobs, and with so many fire stations in the United States being volunteer stations, a donation of new, reliable tires that they can count on will help them meet the needs of their communities and stay safe while doing so.

Cooper® and GSF selected three fire stations in need and are donating tires for one or two emergency vehicles per station, approximately 30 tires total. The stations receiving the tires are:

  1. DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department in DeWitt, Nebraska
  2. Russellville/Lohman Fire Department in Russellville, Missouri
  3. Smith Mills Fire Department in Henderson, Kentucky

New Lever Latch from Southco Features Visual Access Indicator

CONCORDVILLE, PA—Southco, Inc., a provider of engineered access solutions ,has added a new version to its successful C2 Lever Latch product line that provides the same consistent compression and vibration resistance as the standard C2 series, but features a color-coded access indicator that allows the user to see if the latch has been opened.

The C2 Lever Latch with Visual Access Indicator features a small, color coded window that can be viewed to monitor latch status. When the window shows green, the latch has not been opened since it was last reset. If the latch is opened, the window will turn from green to red, signaling that the latch has been actuated. The indicator remains red in subsequent opening or actuation. The red indicator can be reset back to green with a simple 90 degree turn of the tool recess security key.

Designed for simple, one handed operation, the C2 series features a flush-mounted design and a built-in handle. The C2 series delivers high mechanical performance and compensates for misalignment, delivering a robust cycle life. Additionally, the C2 with Visual Access Indicator can be installed in the same panel prep as the current C2 series, simplifying application upgrades, and is available with key or tool locking options for increased security. Further, the new C2 comes with an integrated bumper to provide scratch-free engagement with frame to protect its decorated or coated finish

Global Product Manager Loc Tieu adds, “The C2 Lever Latch with Visual Access Indicator offers the same consistent operation as our standard C2 series, but provides the added benefit of visually monitoring latch status. By allowing the end user to see if the latch has been actuated, the C2 Lever Latch with Visual Access Indicator saves the end user unnecessary time spent opening the enclosure to verify the enclosure contents.”

Zoll Medical Corporation Acquires TherOx, Inc.

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun 18, 2019--ZOLL ®  Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, today announced it has acquired TherOx, Inc., of Irvine, Calif., a privately held company. TherOx is focused on improving treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and markets systems to deliver SuperSaturated Oxygen (SSO 2 ) Therapy.

SSO 2 Therapy, which was recently approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), has been demonstrated to reduce infarct size after primary coronary intervention (PCI) with stenting in patients with left anterior descending ST-elevation myocardial infarction. 1 When a large ischemic area of muscle damage remains following AMI, the patient condition often deteriorates into debilitating heart failure.

"ZOLL and TherOx are both focused on emergency cardiac care," said Neil Johnston, President of ZOLL Circulation. "This acquisition expands the ZOLL product portfolio in support of excellence for patients and caregivers."

"SSO 2 Therapy can help reduce infarct size among patients who suffer from large anterior AMIs, 1 which are the most serious heart attacks,” said Kevin T. Larkin, President and Chief Executive Officer of TherOx. “Adjunctive to PCI, SSO 2 Therapy is intended to salvage heart muscle and reduce infarct size.”

“We are looking forward to becoming part of ZOLL so that together we can bring this breakthrough treatment option to more patients sooner,” Larkin said.

“No delay in door-to-balloon times and improved clinical outcomes is a combination we think physicians will find appealing,” Johnston added. “Because SSO 2 Therapy is delivered following PCI and stenting, there is no disruption of today’s workflow in the cath lab.”

About SSO2Therapy

A heart attack is typically caused when oxygenated blood flow to the heart is blocked or reduced. Most often, the heart’s tiny capillaries then swell, further restricting blood flow. If not quickly restored, irreversible damage to the heart muscle, or infarction, will occur. Immediately after the coronary artery has been opened by PCI, SSO 2 Therapy delivers a one-time, 60-minute infusion of the patient’s super oxygenated blood to the targeted ischemic area of the heart through a small catheter. SSO 2 Therapy infuses super oxygenated blood to improve microvascular flow, then restores heart tissue to normal oxygen level. 2,3. SSO 2 Therapy is aligned with current guidelines for interventional cardiology procedures.

About TherOx, Inc.

TherOx is focused on commercializing SSO 2 Therapy for the sizeable AMI patient population to save hearts, improving and ultimately saving lives. This first-of-its-kind device treats the most serious heart attack patients who suffer from acute myocardial infarction without interrupting door-to-balloon time. TherOx technology provides highly oxygenated fluids directly to the damaged area of the heart using a catheter placed after PCI and stenting. Clinical trials show consistent benefit to the patient, as relevant to the standard of care, and a reduction in infarct size of 26%. 1 For more information about TherOx, visit www.therox.com.
