Wilmington (MA) Loses Fire Apparatus to Rust

The engine is a 2002 Pierce Pumper with a capacity of 750 gallons.

Town Manager Jeff Hull said that the engine provides “really significant capacity” when the fire department arrives at the scene of a fire. He explained that the truck is key in the moments when connections are being made to hydrants and the setup is being established.

The town has looked into alternatives, both for the short-term and the long-term. In the short term, the town looks likely to get a loaner vehicle. Hull did not comment specifically on where the loaner vehicle would be sourced from, citing the ongoing negotiations. He did say that he expected the plan to come to fruition.

Historic Fire Apparatus Display Considered for Remodel

Shown in its glory at many local parades, the fully restored 1927 Stoughton Fire Engine was the department’s first piece of motorized equipment. The plan is to highlight the engine in a glass-window addition that will be lit up at night at the 2598 W. Main St. building.

Sun Prairie Fire Chief Chris Garrison outlined the department’s request at the Oct. 2 Public Safety Committee. The chief said the engine display would put a Sun Prairie personalized feel on the remodel project, and provide more space at the downtown fire station, where the engine is now stored.

Work Underway on Joint Urbandale/Clive (IA) Fire Station

An agreement drafted by the cities lays out plans to share the cost of personnel. The agreement provides both cities fire protection, fire suppression and rescue, emergency medical service and other related services, according to a release. Both cities will approve the recommended budget for the annual operating costs for Fire Station No. 43, and every quarter the city of Clive will reimburse Urbandale for a portion of the personnel costs for the fire station. Clive will pay approximately 40 percent of the personnel costs associated with the new station, while Urbandale will pay the balance. Urbandale will pay for construction, apparatus and equipment, and other associated costs. With approval of the Dallas County local option sales and service tax, the projects will be financed without the need for a property tax increase, with new sales tax revenue generated in the Dallas County portion of Urbandale servicing the debt. It is estimated that the joint fire station will save the cities $1 million.

Homeowner Upset with Tulsa Fire Department After House Fire

Disabled and left in only his pajamas, he's not sure what to do next.

"I've been here two years, faithfully," said Johnson. "I love this area, and I love my neighbors. I'm sad, and I'm pissed off."

He's angry with the Tulsa Fire Department. He says he called for help multiple times and waited too long for crews to arrive.
