Milton (WI) Subcommittee to Discuss Shared Fire Station

The commission decided to create the subcommittee in June and has been waiting to appoint a member to represent the city of Janesville before convening.

The subcommittee will spend its first meeting reviewing the history of the Milton Fire Department and identifying goals, according to the agenda.

The Janesville and Milton fire departments began sharing services in February 2016. An intergovernmental agreement between the cities expanded shared services in early 2017.

Toledo (OH) Fire Apparatus Gets Stuck in Sinkhole

On their way to the scene, the truck's back tire got completely stuck in a sinkhole in the middle of the road.

Crews are glad that  no major damage was done. But what is raising concern is that this is not the first time something like this has happened to one of Toledo's rescue crews.

Right now the road is still closed to drivers.

Miramar (FL) Firefighters Trapped When Power Lines fall on Fire Apparatus

It happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of Miramar Parkway after a storm passed through the area. A car had crashed into a utility pole earlier causing the power line to hang low, said fire rescue spokesman Lt. Jose Gregorisch.

“We had three firefighters trapped inside that vehicle while that power line was energized,” he said. “When they struck the power line, it shattered the front windshield and at least one of those firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”

The fire engine was leaving Fire Station 70 when the wires smashed the windshield of the truck.

“Our guys couldn’t even get in to rescue the guys from the truck,” he said. “Luckily, all our guys are trained firefighter paramedics so the two other guys in the truck helped the guy who was hit in the face with the glass.”
