The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Ready Rack Wall Rack Organizer

The Ready RackÂ® Wall Rack Organizer was designed for the fire service to get items off the table or off the floor, offering better organization for smaller department items. This product was designed to outlast big box store hanging systems. It comes complete with five mop hangers and four hanging hooks. Also available for additional storage, to accompany the wall rack organizer, is Groves's Horizontal Top Shelf (below). Both are made from heavy-duty powder coated steel.

Bayonne (NJ) Firehouse To Undergo Renovations

BAYONNE -- The firehouse at the corner of 57th Street and Avenue B will be closed for approximately six months while it undergoes a two-phase renovation, city officials said. The fire station, which was built in 1927, will undergo two phases of rehab.

Orangeburg County buying $1M ladder truck

The Orangeburg County Fire District will be purchasing a new ladder truck at a cost of almost $1 million. "We have an urgent need out here right now, today, with the West Middle ladder" truck, Orangeburg County Fire District Director Teddy Wolfe told fire commissioners recently.

New dispatch system improves response times for Elkhart fire

Elkhart firefighters are giving the thumbs up to a new dispatch system that has helped reduce their response times. Until recently, they were dispatched with an outdated system that wasn't always dependable. Dispatchers at the 911 Center in Elkhart still take calls and information for the fire department.
