Fire Truck Rear-Ended

It happened just after 4 a.m.
The truck was being used to block off lanes of the freeway as investigators worked to clear a different accident when the truck was rear-ended.

Four firefighters were in the truck at the time of the crash. No one was hurt.

Fire Truck Returns to Jeffersonville to Be Displayed at Vintage Fire Museum

Posted: Saturday, August 5, 2017 10:33 PM EDT Updated: Saturday, August 5, 2017 10:33 PM EDT JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- It was a homecoming of sorts for a longtime Jeffersonville firetruck. Saturday, the 1953 Seagrave Pumper returned to its original home in Jeffersonville.

The 1953 Seagrave Pumper returned to its original home in Jeffersonville. 


It was in commission for 40 years before being auctioned off, but it was recently purchased by a board member of the Vintage Fire Museum where it will now be permanently displayed.

Prairieville Fire Department Opens Newest Fire Station

PRAIRIEVILLE - With a booming population, Fire Protection District 3 - better known as the Prairieville Fire Department - opened its fifth fire station this summer to meet the demands of the fastest growing area of Ascension Parish. But the area may need another five stations to meet the demand.

The $1.4 million station on the corner of Bluff Road and Alligator Bayou Road is the second of two stations built in the area in the last three years, as new business and residential developments seem to break ground weekly in the unincorporated community of Prairieville, in the northern reaches of the parish.

Apopka Adds Fire Stations to Improve Response Times

The last time Apopka built a fire station, fewer than 20,000 people lived in Orange County's second-largest city and no toll roads led into the bedroom community. That was 1997. Apopka is now home to nearly 50,000 residents who commute on three high-speed highways, but the city is still covered by just four fire stations.
The city plans to break ground on a new firehouse — one of two in the works — to reduce the time it takes firefighters and paramedics to get to emergency calls on toll roads ringing the city and to areas in the city’s farthest northwest and southwestern reaches, where the population is booming.
