Ambulance Workers Returning from Call Killed in I-81 Milk Tanker Crash

CANTON, N.Y. -- Three people killed in an Oswego County crash were employees of a north country ambulance company returning from a call in Syracuse, according to news outlets. State police identified three dead St. Lawrence County residents as Corey E. Moore, 50, of Canton; Gregg P.

R.B. Lawrence, owner of R.B. Lawrence Ambulance in Canton, told the Watertown Daily Times they were his employees.

"We are such a small company that they are all family," Lawrence told the newspaper. "They are just great people. I am not sure how we replace them or how we go on, but we are still in shock on this and still trying to figure out all that happened."

GCFPD Adds New Ambulance

The Glen Carbon Fire Protection District has added another ambulance to its fleet. GCFPD EMS Director Eric Wilson said this is the 10th anniversary of EMS response service to the community. In related business, the fire protection district is still in the planning stages of the construction of a new fire station.

The Glen Carbon Fire Protection District has added another ambulance to its fleet.

This brings the number of ambulances to four.

GCFPD EMS Director Eric Wilson said this is the 10th anniversary of EMS response service to the community.

“We started with two ambulances and one 24/7 crew,” Wilson said. “We now have four ambulances and two 24/7 crews with a third crew available during daytime hours, Monday through Friday.”

GCFPD Trustee Christopher Otto said the additional ambulance is a vital addition to the village.

“We have three crews and four ambulances,” Otto said. “If one of the ambulances is down for repairs we will still be able to provide full service to the community.”

Huntsville's 1927 Fire Engine Demonstrates It Can Still Pump It Up at 90

In 1927 Huntsville took possession of its new Ahrens-Fox pumper engine. It was the best fire engine money could buy at the time at a cost of $12,500. It was manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio and was shipped June 29, 1927...

The fire engine was retired from active service in 1954 but kept on as a reserve engine.  It's last know use as a pumper was during the Huntsville flood of March 1973 when it was used to pump water out of the Huntsville Utilities building for two days.

In 1999 the fire engine took part in it's first modern day Huntsville parade.  It has since been restored and continues to take part in Huntsville's parades and today demonstrated that it still has what it takes to be a pumper engine.

The foundation gave this $28,000 ATV, completely outfitted with fire and rescue equipment, to the volunteer department.

It can carry 50 feet of hose, 75 gallons of water, along with foam and rescue equipment, and can go anywhere from woods and fields to highways.

In southeastern Cumberland County, that's a big plus.
