The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Fire Department Blazing Ahead in 2017

ANDERSON - Moving into his second year as chief of the Anderson Fire Department, Dave Cravens' top priority is renovating the department's headquarters on Fifth Street. With a plan of action and $850,000 budgeted from the city's Fire Equipment and Building Fund, Cravens hopes he can begin work on Station 1 this spring.
Chief Dave Cravens has big plans for his department and since becoming chief last year has moved quickly to address several key improvements for the department. He added leadership positions, creatively replaced aging fire apparatus, and now has his sights set on renovating the company's headquarters and home of Station 1. Cravens has also invested in equipment and PPE for his firefighters.

This Birmingham Fire Engine Has Been Turned into a Bar

Fancy a drink from a bar that's inside a fire engine? Then you're in luck. Bizarre though it might sound, this is the latest new bar in Birmingham. Officially launched on February 9 at the NEC's Genting Arena, The Tipple Truck is the only fire engine bar in the country.

A first of its kind in the UK, the converted fire appliance will be at street food events and festivals and was recently launched in Birmingham.

We've seen fire apparatus in the States repurposed as mobile food businesses, but bar conversions aren't something we've seen much, if any of, here.

Medford's New Fire Station Opens Its Doors

Medford's new three-bay fire station near the corner of Columbus and Stewart avenues opened its doors to more than 100 visitors Monday.Fire Station 2, which replaces a small 70-year-old facility on West Eighth Street, was built at a cost of $4 million by Adroit Construction Co.
Apart from offering a modern station, the new building is designed to improve firefighting service and response time in Medford. The station will have the newest fire engine in the department's fleet, bought at a cost of $700,000. Both the station and fire engine were recently put into service.

Coleman Fire Department Gets a New Fire Truck

COLEMAN, Texas - Coleman city officials helped roll in a new truck to the fire station Monday. The city's fire department received a $212,000 grant through FEMA last July to purchase the 2017 unit, according to Chief David Martinez. It will primarily be used to fight structure fires.

The rig was the first the department has purchased since 2006. The acquisition was made possible by a FEMA grant of $212,000. Total cost of the fire apparatus was $248,000. The city provided a 5 percent match to the $212,000 from FEMA. The new truck will be used primarily for structure fires.
