Effingham (NH) Fire Apparatus Rolls Over

A fire truck rolled over Wednesday, knocking down wires and closing a state highway.

Effingham Fire Chief Randy Burbank was alone in the truck, headed to the nearby fire station along Route 53. The crash is under investigation, but Deputy Chief William Piekut said he believes Burbank hit ice or slush while rounding the corner, lost control, slid into the pole and flipped over.

Burbank was able to walk away from the crash but was checked at a hospital as a precaution.

"[The fire truck] might be beyond repair," Piekut said. "They don't take kindly to being upside down, but we've got another truck on order that's due in February, so we should be OK."

Washington Fire Mechanics Meeting Minutes

December 10, 2015

The Washington Fire Mechanics group recently met in Redmond, Washington for a general board meeting. Financial reports were distributed and reviewed following the training event last fall and we discussed possibly raising the conference fee to help better cover the costs of the event but will be reviewing other options with the event center first. 2016’s training schedule and instructor preregistration has already begun and will include even more new classes. Vendor turnout was down this year, we will be changing up the display for 2016 to increase viewing area. Please remind your local vendors of this opportunity and to contact the WFM’s for information at vendors.wfm@washingtonfirechiefs.org...
