Blair Township (MI) Voters Approve $6.4 Million for New Fire, EMS Station

Voters in Blair Township (MI) have given approval for a $6.4 million new station for Blair Township Fire and EMS, according to a report published by 9&10 News.

The process for a new station started over a year ago and construction should begin with 60 days with a completion date expected in the fall of 2023, according to the report.

The new station will have modern energy efficiencies built into the facility and is expected to increase response times to more than 60 percent of the population, the report said.

Plymouth (ME) Breaks Ground on New Fire Station

The Plymouth (ME) fire station has needed replacement for at least five years with a leaky roof and black mold, but a ground breaking ceremony on Friday (Aug. 5) will resolve those issues, according to a report published by FOX 22 WFVX Bangor.

According to the report, the town has tried several times to repair the current fire station without much success, resulting in the need for a new station.

Plymouth firefighters are appreciative of the efforts the 1,400 people in town have made to build a new fire station, according to the report, which added the new station is expected to be completed by the spring of 2023. In the meantime, the Plymouth Fire Department will share quarters with the Detroit fire department, according to the news report.

Newton (NJ) Set to Purchase $894K Fire Apparatus

The Newton (NJ) Fire Department is poised to sign a contract for a new $894,000 pumper as soon as the City Council approves an ordinance authorizing its purchase at a meeting on August 15, according to a report published by WMBC-TV.

According to the report, half of the funds will come from federal American Rescue Plan funding and the apparatus will take about a year to complete after the contract is signed.
