Aug. 25—A fully marked Madison Heights fire utility pickup truck was stolen from the city’s Fire Department headquarters building and police are seeking tips.

Madison Heights police Lt. Michael Siladke said in a statement Thursday that the truck was stolen shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire department “reported that a suspect entered an unlocked door at the Fire Department Headquarters, 31313 Brush, and drove the truck out of the building,” Siladke said.

The thief drove off in an unknown direction.

Police described the vehicle as a 2021 Chevy extended cab Silverado with distinctive markings. The upper half of the truck is black, and the lower half is red with a black stripe outlined in gold along the sides.

The truck has Madison Heights fire department logos on the doors and a light bar on the roof.

Police said they are investigating the theft and are asking anyone who sees or knows about the stolen fire vehicle to call them at 248-585-2100.

A St. Paul (SC) Fire Department fire truck sustained significant damage when it hit a large downed tree while responding to a call on a dark road in the early morning hours, according to a report published by Count on 2 News.

According to the report, the engine was responding to an incident on Highway 174 at about 1:50 am on Saturday morning when it hit a tree that had fallen across the road.

A fire officer said the road goes through a swampy area and it’s difficult to see obstructions at night, according to the report.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Kernersville (NC) Fire Rescue Department which is on for next year, firefighters are restoring a 1923 American LaFrance fire truck, according to a report published by WFMY News 2.

According to the report, the restoration of the fire department’s first engine has been on going for the last several months and firefighters expect to have it completed by next summer.

There have been some challenges restoring the antique apparatus, according to the report, which said the engine is being restored in Boston, the carburetor is in North Carolina and a couple of brass lanterns are in Connecticut being worked on.

When the restoration is completed, the engine, which cost $6,500 new, will be housed in the new fire station off Highway 66, according to the report.
