Fresno (CA) Fire Engine Involved in Accident

A Fresno engine was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in the northeast part of the city, reports fresnobee.com.

The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. as the apparatus was responding to a medical call. Officials say the engine had its lights and sirens activated at the time of the collision.

The apparatus stopped to check traffic before proceeding through the intersection, but a vehicle was struck on its driver side by the engine, the report says.

The three firefighters on the truck were not injured, but the other driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The engine had minimal damage, though the vehicle sustained serious damage to its front and driver’s side, according to the report.

Police officials are investigating.

Goshen (OH) Fire Station 18 Recovery Efforts Underway Following Tornado

Locals in Goshen are busy recovering from the July 6 tornado that struck town, and one of the biggest efforts is the fire station.

Goshen Fire and EMS Station 18 was left with a collapsed roof and caved-in walls—leaving ample debris, reports spectrum1news.com. Eight firefighters were present at the station the night of the storm; thankfully, no injuries were reported.

“Goshen Fire and EMS is fully staffed and operating, but obviously like most of our community we too have a lot of recovery to deal with,” a Facebook post reads. “Fire Chief Ed Myers said it best yesterday when asked how the firefighters were dealing with this event and the damage to their station.”

Until the station is back up and running, crews are operating out of the township administration building and the department’s station 19.

Officials have been working with structural engineers and an insurance adjuster to see if the building can be salvaged or needs to be rebuilt, according to the report.

“Thank you to all that have reached out and checked in,” a separate Facebook post reads. “We are all okay and working through this. I also want to thank every neighboring fire department, the residents of this great community, and all those who have donated, volunteered, and done everything that can to help us through this. It will take time, but we will rebuild and come back stronger from this.”

Details Emerge on Nicholson (MS) Station Fire

FA reported Wednesday that the Nicholson Volunteer Fire Department suffered damage Monday night to its station, apparatus, and equipment. Well, now new details have emerged regarding its cause.

A report by state and county fire officials says that the fire was caused by a malfunction in one of the station’s fire trucks, reports wlox.com.

Two fire trucks, a brush truck, and other equipment were also damaged in the fire, but officials say there will not be any issues with regards to fire protection.

The fire broke out late Monday night, with a passer-by snapping footage of the flames. Several nearby departments responded, and no injuries were reported.
