One person is dead and another is seriously injured following a crash with a Franklin City Fire Department truck Thursday evening, reports wdtn.com.

Highway patrol officials were investigating another accident on I-70 north involving a tractor-trailer and a vehicle, while a department fire truck was parked in the left lane with its emergency lights activated, the report says.

Nineteen-year-old Dominique Horton, in her silver Chevrolet Cruze, then collided with the back of the apparatus, which killed her and left her passenger, 21-year-old Taylor Smith, in the hospital with serious injuries. Officials say neither party was wearing their seat belt; they suspect that excessive speed and alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.

Four crew members were inside the fire truck at the time of impact, though the report notes that none of them were injured.
