See Morgan County (AL) Rescue Squad Pull Truck Stranded in Flood Waters

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call from 911 that two people were stranded on top of a vehicle after their vehicle was swept from rising flood waters on County Road 593 south of Courtland. Deputies arrived with Volunteer Firefighters and were able to communicate with the two gentlemen who were sitting on the hood of a pickup truck.

The Morgan County Rescue Squad was called to conduct the water rescue. Crews put a trained swift water rescue diver in the water and were able to stabilize the vehicle with a tow line. The rescue squad was able to assist the men to safety; the vehicle was able to be removed from the water by the towing company.

“Moving water is a very powerful force and with all the rain we have had recently it does not take much to flood a roadway,” the sheriff’s office writes on Facebook.

PA Department Donates Two Apparatus to IL Counterpart that ‘Lost Everything’ in Fire

The brotherhood knows no boundaries—not even geological ones.

Following a three-alarm fire last October in which the department “lost everything,” the Washington Park (IL) Fire Department is celebrating an incredibly generous donation of two fire engines from a PA department.

There were no injuries in the fire, but the village didn’t have insurance or the resources to replace the losses, reports bnd.com.

Then, earlier this month—on perhaps the worst day to hear good news, April Fool’s Day—department officials learned that the Elk Lake (PA) Volunteer Fire Company had plans to donate two fire trucks: a red 1987 Pierce pumper and a blue and white 1989 rescue, the report says.

The donation gives the department, which covers three communities comprising about 2,500-3,000 people, a four-truck fleet.

The PA department found its IL counterpart in a roundabout manner; Elk Lake originally looked to donate to a tornado-ravaged KY department but found no takers. Word got around and eventually the two departments connected, the report says.
