AZ Paramedic Killed, Two Hurt in Crash Involving Ambulance, Truck

A paramedic was killed and two others hurt Friday in a crash involving a semi-truck and an ambulance with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Fire Department.

Video from the scene shows the cab of the ambulance sheared off from the rest of the rig. The crash happened on State Route 87 near McDowell Road, azfamily.com reported.

A spokesperson from the Arizona Department of Safety said another paramedic in the ambulance is in extremely critical condition. The truck driver is said to have minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Marina (CA) Fire Chief Carjacked in Department SUV

Marina Fire Chief Doug McCoun was carjacked in his fire department SUV Friday around 9 p.m. while responding to a motor vehicle accident.

McCoun told reporters he first thought the man approaching his vehicle wanted assistance after the accident, but the man reached inside and pulled him out.

The Monterrey County sheriff’s department recovered the vehicle Saturday morning at the home of a woman who reported a stranger was in her house. They arrested 43-year-old Kevin Peck of Sacramento and charged him in the incident.

Union City (MI) Fire Department Adds 75-Foot Aerial to Fleet

The Union City Fire Department has added a 75-foot aerial ladder to its fleet. The fire truck, which pumps 2,500 gallons per minute and has a 500-gallon water tank, replaces a 43-year-old ladder.

The apparatus was previously owned by Farmington Hills.
