The Call is Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Anxious? Don’t be. Advanced Vehicle Extrication training is available at FDIC 2022.

Description

Instructors present challenging, difficult extrication scenarios requiring advanced skills to stabilize the vehicles, gain entry, and remove patients entrapped and entangled in the wreckage. There will be plenty of “tool time” for all students. This class is an advanced class that may include cars, SUVs, vans, and school buses. Students rotate among four stations.

Methodology

There will be a 4 station, 45 minute rotation where each group will get to experience each real world advanced extrication scenario. The instructors will preview each scene and provide guidance and instruction on how to safely, quickly, and efficiently mitigate the situation. Students can then take their knowledge back home to share with others to more efficiently deal with complex vehicle extrication scenes that occur daily.

Learning Objectives

The objectives are that upon completion of the course, each student will; – be able to ID the resources ne

Apparatus Burned in Sevier County (TN) Fires

Two Pigeon Forge firefighters had to abandon their vehicle when fire entrapped it while fighting the Hatcher Mountain fire, officials reported Thursday.

The two firefighters sought refuge in an area already burned over by the fire and made it out with only minor injuries.

The escape is only one of the close calls experienced in fighting the fire, which has spread to 3,700 acres. The fire is 5% contained as of noon Thursday, though firefighters do have it mostly surrounded.

As of Thursday morning, five pieces of apparatus were damaged by the fire, and roughly 100 homes were damaged. At about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a Tennessee National Guard Blackhawk helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing on a soccer field when its engine failed.

The helicopter was involved in dropping water on the fires when it experienced engine trouble. It first jettisoned its water bucket and then landed in the field. All four crew members are fine.
