The Seneca (MO) Fire Department as dedicated a brand new fire station that been in the making for more than seven years, according to a report published by KOAM News Now.
At the grand opening this week, officials spoke of the work that has gone into making the project a reality since the land was donated for the new station back in 2015, according to the report that also said the ground breaking was held in 2018.
The project languished until the Eastern Shawnee Tribe, across the state line in Oklahoma and asked how much it would cost to finish the station and donated $273,000 to complete the project, according to the report.
Seneca will now have two stations in the community, one on either side of the train tracks that divides the community which means there will be no delay caused by trains that travel through every 15 to 20 minutes, according to the report.
