Plymouth (MA) Approves Two New Fire Trucks Worth $2.4M

Plymouth (MA) approved capital projects that included $2.4 million for the fire department at its October 15 Fall Town Meeting, WickedLocal.com reported.

Those projects included $1.5 million for a new ladder truck and $907,588 for a new pump engine, the report said.

Their purchases were pushed up in response to rising costs, according to the report.

St. Paul’s (SC) Fire District Welcomes Custom Cab Pumper Truck

St. Paul’s Fire District welcomed a new addition to the family Monday, ABCNews4.com reported.

The station received a custom cab pumper truck, which cost more than $500,000, the report said. It is the first vehicle of its kind that the department has ever had.

As part of the truck’s welcome, staff at the station held a prayer for the truck, according to the report.

Nebraska City (NE) Approves $727,000 for Pumper Truck

City commissioners approved the purchase of a $727,000 pumper truck for the fire department at their meeting Monday, RiverCountry.NewsChannelNebraska.com reported.

The city has set aside $150,000 in ARPA funds and will use $220,000 in the equipment reserve fund, leaving $357,000 left to be financed, the report said.

The new pumper will replace a 1979 pumper, which has not passed certification and is beyond its 20-year life expectancy.

VIDEO: Fire Devours New York Industrial Complex, Ignites Air Quality Concerns

A monstrous fire devoured a factory in Queens' Long Island City early Tuesday, spewing thick black smoke into the air as bright orange flames leaped into the pitch-black sky overnight. The blaze erupted at a commercial laundromat on 30th Street, near Hunters Point Avenue, around 2:30 a.m. and quickly escalated, triggering a fourth alarm -- which means more fire companies are called in -- a few hours later.
