Los Angeles County takes step to ensure crash photos are never leaked again, following Kobe Bryant incident

The 2020 helicopter crash in the hills of Calabasas that took the lives of NBA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna; Sarah and Payton Chester; Keri, John and Alyssa Altobelli; Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan sent shock waves across the world. But the unimaginable pain and grief sustained by Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, was compounded when graphic photos from the crash scene were shared by Los Angeles County deputies and firefighters with each other, some of their spouses, and in one instance with a bartender at a bar where a deputy was drinking.

Overdose Awareness Day: ‘4 to 6 minutes is all we have to get there’

Aug. 31 is Overdose Awareness Day, and News4JAX is teaming up with local organizations hoping to save lives. The main culprit behind the surge in overdose cases we’re seeing in our area is fentanyl. As Director of Pharmacy at Orange Park Hospital, Dr. Jodie Graves works to save lives every day. But one life that couldn’t be saved was that of her adult stepdaughter.

Polaris issues 'stop ride/sale' order on 230,000 snowmobiles due to fire issue

Polaris Inc. announced that 230,000 snowmobiles need to be checked again by authorized dealers due to a fire hazard from faulty fuel tanks. The company determined that degraded fuel and extended storage increases the likelihood of an incident to occur from static discharge within the snowmobile tank.

Firefighting equipment stolen off of DNR truck assigned to wildfire north of Government Way

Firefighting equipment and personal gear was stolen off of a truck belonging to the Department of Natural Resources, according to Spokane County Fire. The crew was working on cleaning up the Palisades Fire north of Government Way which sparked last Friday. Fire crews are asking anyone with information regarding the theft to call Crime Check.

Firefighter hurt in Puyallup house fire

VIDEO: A firefighter was hurt and two houses were damaged after a fire Wednesday morning in Puyallup. Just after 4 a.m., crews responded to a report of a fire in the area of 109th Avenue Court East and 53rd Court East. Officials told FOX 13 that a firefighter was taken to the hospital with a hand injury.
