White River, Irving Peak fires have burned more than 2,000 acres combined

The White River and Irving Peak fires northwest of Plain have now burned a combined 2,000 acres as containment remains at 1 percent. The White River Fire has burned about 960 acres while the Irving Peak Fire is at 1,057 acres, according to incident command. The Irving Peak Fire remained active on Sunday, primarily spreading east along Wenatchee Ridge.

5 injured in hit-and-run boat collision on Lake Washington

VIDEO: The Seattle Fire Department responded to a report of two boats colliding on Lake Washington Saturday night, according to the SFD. Vehicle fire in Liberty Lake spreads to brush, shuts down westbound traffic on I-90

A vehicle fire on westbound I-90 near Liberty Lake spread to the surrounding vegetation, prompting crews to block traffic as crews work to put the flames out. Firefighters have managed to put the vehicle out, but the flames are still flaring up in the grass. Due to low visibility, crews blocked traffic in both lanes for a time, though traffic in one lane has now reopened.

Fire crews respond to wildland fire that started near Spangle

Spokane County Fire District #3 responded to a brush fire near Spangle Sunday afternoon. According to SCFD #3, they received a call about the fire near Philleo Lake and Cedar Roads around 12:40 p.m. According to SCFD #3 Fire Chief Cody Rohrbach, the fire burned about 20 to 40 acres in a standing field of wheat.

Portage (WI) Puts New Fire Truck in Service

The Portage (WI) Fire Department celebrated the arrival of a new Pierce Enforcer engine with a short presentation and a push-in ceremony, according to a report published by the Daily Dodge.

At the event, firefighters explained the tradition of a push-in ceremony pays tribute to yesteryear when fire equipment was pulled by horses which couldn’t back the apparatus into the station easily, according to the report, which added that the fire department will mark all new deliveries with this type of service.

The new apparatus is a big step for the fire department as it will be replacing a 1986 engine and will be compliant with National Fire Protection Association standard, according to the fire department’s Facebook page.
