Firefighters converge in Pennsylvania for first regional convention in 22 years

VIDEO: Firefighters from different departments tested their skills on Saturday in a competition during the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association’s annual conference, held for the first time in 22 years at Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. The name of the game was “battle of the barrel.” The team that could use its hose to blast a barrel on a pulley along a cable above Union Street to the opposing team’s side won.

Alabama man steals vehicle, ambulance, and fire truck to evade police

A Meridianville man stole three vehicles, including an ambulance and fire truck early Sunday, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. According to a spokesman from the Athens Police Department, police responded to a call about a suspicious man at the Circle K gas station on Highway 31 North in Athens.

Puget Sound Fire investigating 5 separate Kent fires

PHOTOS: Firefighters are investigating a series of fires on Kent’s east hill Monday morning. Puget Sound Fire tweeted there have been five separate fires within an hour involving two dumpsters and a pile of tires. A car also burned. The fires happened in the general area of the 10400 and 10600 blocks of SE 240th Ave near Firestone auto care.

Elliot M. Paisner II is Awarded the 2022 FAMA Scholarship

The Fire Apparatus Manufacturers’ Association (FAMA) awarded a scholarship to University of Maryland student Elliot M. Paisner II.

Lou Milanovich, FAMA Education Committee Chair, stated, “Elliot grew up fascinated by fire apparatus and equipment and is now a fourth-generation volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT. As a result of his passion and continued research of the fire protection industry, Elliot has developed an extensive personal library on the subject. His unwavering drive to serve within the fire protection industry is well deserving of a FAMA scholarship.”

Paisner serves as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for Prince George’s County, Maryland. He is dedicated to his career goal of becoming a Fire Protection Engineer where he can make an impact through life safety research and other aspects of fire that will support firefighters. Because of his fascination, Paisner is interested in many of the possible career opportunities and directions within fire protection. His ultimate career goal within fire protection is not defined, but Paisner’s thirst for knowledge and learning will support him in whatever direction he takes.

On behalf of FAMA, we wish Elliot Paisner a successful career in fire protection engineering.

Spokane police investigating possible arson, assault crimes after man arrived at hospital on fire

The man who arrived earlier this week at a Spokane hospital while still on fire may have been intentionally lit on fire, according to court documents. Providence Holy Family Hospital employees told police that Steven Maupin-Bureau, 23, arrived with burn injuries at the north Spokane hospital around 1:15 p.
