Gig Harbor Fire crews knock down fire at marina; investigation underway

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Firefighters responded to flames at the Gig Harbor Marina Friday morning. Gig Harbor Fire tweeted photos of the fire showing what appears to be a boat engulfed in flames. The fire was knocked down around 5:30 a.m., firefighters said. Crews were able to keep the fire contained to one boat, though a second boat suffered minor damage.

The Butler Did It: Drunk Man Crashes into York County (VA) Fire Truck on July 4

Joshua Butler, 34, was arrested just prior to 1 a.m. on July 4 after he crashed his Jeep into a York County fire truck while driving under the influence.

Deputies responded to the area of George Washington Memorial Highway and Goosley Road for the accident after finishing up on a different crash in the area, reports 13newsnow.com.

Butler’s Jeep sustained heavy damage to the front, and two firefighters on the apparatus were taken to the hospital for treatment, the report notes.

Butler was charged with DUI, misdemeanor reckless driving for conditions of the road, and refusal to submit a breath sample, the sheriff’s office says.

Fresno (CA) Fire Engine Involved in Accident

A Fresno engine was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in the northeast part of the city, reports fresnobee.com.

The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. as the apparatus was responding to a medical call. Officials say the engine had its lights and sirens activated at the time of the collision.

The apparatus stopped to check traffic before proceeding through the intersection, but a vehicle was struck on its driver side by the engine, the report says.

The three firefighters on the truck were not injured, but the other driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The engine had minimal damage, though the vehicle sustained serious damage to its front and driver’s side, according to the report.

Police officials are investigating.

WWFD #8 serves rural central Walla Walla County and NCFS donates funds that support rural communities like central Walla Walla County.
