Snoqualmie Fire Department to host annual breakfast, fundraiser

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association is holding its annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, during the Snoqualmie Days celebration. The event will be held at the at the Snoqualmie Fire Station, 37600 SE Snoqualmie Parkway. The Fire Association helps support the Snoqualmie Fire Department’s purchase of special equipment.

Parked Fire Truck Rolls out of Smithfield, NC, Fire Station, Hits Sign

An unoccupied fire truck rolled out of the Smithfield (NC) Fire Station and sustained minor after it hit a town street sign and stopped in a parking lot across the street, according to a report published by The Johnston County Report.

According to report, incident occurred about three minutes after the reserve apparatus had been parked. The chief told the paper that the brakes were applied and the truck was off and the brake were still applied to the truck after it was discovered across the street.

The apparatus, a 1992 International, sustained about $1,000 in damage when it hit the sign, causing about $375, according to the report which said the truck was immediately taken out of service so it could be checked by a mechanic for brake failure.

As the Stayman fire in Chelan, Wash. continues to burn, and firefighters work to get the wildfire under control, the fire signals the start of wildfire season in much of the state. While the fire evacuation was recently downgraded from a level three to a level two evacuation, warning residents to just be prepared to evacuate rather then a full evacuation, it is still only 30% contained as of publishing.
