Automakers reported nearly 400 crashes over a 10-month period involving vehicles with partially automated driver-assist systems, including 273 with Teslas, according to statistics released Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cautioned against using the numbers to compare automakers, saying it didn’t weight them by the number of vehicles from each manufacturer that use the systems, or how many miles those vehicles traveled.

Junior firefighters are one step closer to having access to improved training after the House unanimously approved a bill by Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) to prepare junior firefighters for becoming full firefighters.
“Volunteer fire companies across the nation, and right here in Pennsylvania, are facing staff shortages that is projected to only get worse if nothing is done,” Ecker, a former junior firefighter, said.

Yakima Firefighters (YFD) were at it again early this morning after a garage caught on fire.
According to the Yakima Firefighters IAFF Facebook page, at 4:30 am this morning, YFD responded to a structure fire on the 1100 Block of Folsom Ave.
Fire officials say when crews arrived, a detached 2-car garage was on fire.

There are currently 38 active wildfires in the United States according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
A majority of those wildfires are up in Alaska, with a handful of large fires in the southwest and a few in California. Locally, we have been extremely fortunate. What is likely due to the safety of residents and the wet spring, we have avoided the start of the season here in Oregon and up in Washington.
