Anacortes fire official taking over as fire chief on South Whidbey

Nick Walsh, currently serving as an Anacortes Fire Department division chief of training and EMS, will soon have a new job. Walsh starts as the chief of South Whidbey Fire/EMS on Saturday, April 9. Walsh replaces retiring Chief H.L. “Rusty” Palmer. Walsh has worked for the Anacortes Fire Department since 2007.

Shed Destroyed In Fire But Everett Firefighters Save Structures From Major Damage

PHOTOS: Quick work by Everett Firefighters kept a fire that destroyed a shed behind a home in the 2500 block of Lombard from doing major damage to a next-door church, attached home and a house alongside. About 10:20 PM Tuesday night Sno 911 received multiple calls of flames seen in the alley between Oakes and Lombard in the 2500 block.

Ground-Breaking Ceremony Announced for Waxahachie (TX) Fire-Rescue’s Station 4

The Waxahachie Fire-Rescue Department recently announced plans to break ground for its Station 4 on Tuesday, April 12 at 4 p.m.

Sartell (MN) Fire Department’s Tower 21 on Cusp of

FA reported late last year that the Sartell Fire Department was set to take delivery of Tower 21, a $1.2 million, 100-foot E-ONE platform truck.

Well, the department did, and the fire truck went through all the pageantry and such:

Now, wjon.com reports, the apparatus is set to be put in service.

The new truck replaces the department’s 1999 ladder. It’ll join two engines, two grass trucks, an air van, two water tenders, and a rescue truck on the department’s fleet.

Williamsport (PA) Bureau of Fire Ordered Two Engines, Ladder for $3.2M

City council recently approved $700,000 in various prior year and current Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for part of the purchase of three fire trucks—two engines and a ladder—for the Williamsport Bureau of Fire.

The apparatus have been ordered, and the remainder of the $3.2 million price tag is expected to come via the American Rescue Plan fund.

In addition, council approved several resolutions regarding the purchase of firefighter turnout gear and equipment. The costs will be taken from ARPA funds. The deals include:

DiVal Safety for SCBA face masks, not to exceed $9,090.

Susquehanna Fire Equipment for hoods and leather helmets, not to exceed $3,400 of ARPA funds and $26,775 of bureau money.

Council also approved a resolution authorizing the sale of a gas range stove as the fire department is remodeling the kitchen at the fire station. The new stove meets the kitchen ventilation needs. The department paid $1,656 for the stove; it’s too large, though, and the department will look to sell it with a reserve of $1,250.
