The department offered thanks to the Roswell Fire Department for the hospitality during the stretch.

“Station 41, at the intersection of New Providence Road and Arnold Mill Road/State Route 140, closed last November after an air quality assessment found high levels of black mold spores in its bunk room and elevated levels in its common areas. (Thankfully, Milton firefighters did not experience anything beyond moderate reactions.)” the city writes on Facebook.

“Very soon after this issue came to light, the City of Roswell welcomed Milton firefighters, equipment, and resources to co-locate with their own crews at Roswell’s Fire Station 6. That station at 825 Cox Road is just 1.5 miles from Milton’s Station 41, minimizing the response times for incidents in the coverage area.”

The project will see the station razed and rebuilt so it faces the road. The new facility will have four bays, office space, living quarters, a weight room, a decon room, and at least six bunkrooms, the report says.

The project is currently $300,000 over its original budget, and construction is expected to be completed next year, according to the report.

Department officials say they moved the fire trucks to Station 22, about four miles away, while EMS services went to a Summerville station one mile away. While this has some residents concerned, officials insist that there will not be a disruption in service.
