Update: Firefighter of 18 years in east King County fired due to state's COVID-19 vaccine mandate

Ten firefighters in east King County are now out of a job-- they were let go from Eastside Fire & Rescue on Monday because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19. Chief Jeff Clark said the agency is following the governor’s mandate of all emergency service providers being fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, 2021.

House fire displaces residents in Kennewick

Kennewick Fire Department is investigating the cause of a colonial house fire that has displaced the people living there. KFD says the fire happened around 1:30 a.m at 3 W. 3rd Ave. Firefighters say a nurse called them when she could smell smoke while working. KFD says there are six to eight people displaced.

One person injured in Battle Ground house fire

A family of five was displaced and one person was burned in a Battle Ground house fire Monday morning. Clark County Fire District 3 responded at 11:10 a.m. to 2101 N.W. 16th Circle for reports of black smoke coming out of the back of the house, according to Battalion Chief Sean Smith. Crews arrived to the single-story house on fire.

Pierce County 'Firewise' Community Preparedness Event Announced

Firefighters from across Pierce County want to make sure everyone is prepared for fire season well in advance this year. If you'd like to make sure your home or neighborhood are prepare for the coming fire season, the Pierce Conservation Dist, EPFR, Orting Valley Fire, Greenwater Fire, and Washington State Department of Natural Resources have teamed up to announce an upcoming wildfire preparedness training session.

Johnson County (KS) Fire District 1 Officially Christens Station 81

Johnson County Fire District 1 recently hosted a hose uncoupling ceremony for its new home, Station 81.

Station 81, located in the Intermodal District of Edgerton, has been in service since February 15.

“This new station will continue to provide better fire protection and emergency medical services for not only the visitors who travel in and out of the Logistics Park for work or business, but it will also enhance the services we already provide for the City of Gardner, KS, City of Spring Hill, KS, New Century Air Center, and the Townships that are within the boundaries of Fire District #1 by adding more on-duty personnel,” a Facebook post reads.

“This new station currently houses one of the two on-duty Battalion Chiefs, a new mid-mount Aerial, Brush Truck, ATV, Tender, and a Johnson County MED-ACT Squad. This Station is also home to our Administrative staff which is housed on the East side of the Station while the West side of the Station houses our emergency services personnel.”
