DocGo Announces Delivery of U.S.’s First All-Electric Ambulance

DocGo announced today the delivery of its new all-electric, zero-emissions ambulance. Significantly more eco-friendly than a standard ambulance, the all-electric vehicle will be the first of its kind to be registered in the U.S. This vehicle marks the first step towards “Zero Emission,” the company’s latest sustainability mission to have an all-electric fleet by 2032.

With several hybrid vehicles already in its fleet, the launch of this all-electric ambulance and “Zero Emission” further demonstrates DocGo’s commitment to advancing green initiatives. This all-electric ambulance is 1/10th as polluting compared to a standard gasoline ambulance. In addition to being less harmful to the planet, the electric ambulance has the potential to lower patient transportation costs due to lower fuel costs and maintenance needs.

“We are tireless in our quest to innovate how care is provided” said DocGo CEO and founder Stan Vashovsky. “Our ‘Zero Emission’ Initiative exemplifies how DocGo is revolutionizing the delivery of mobile medical care, and building a company that’s better for our patients, for our care providers, for our customers, and for the planet.”

DocGo worked with Lightning eMotors to create the new vehicle. “We are honored to have had the opportunity to work alongside DocGo on this exciting initiative,” said Nicholas Bettis, director of marketing and sales operations at Lightning eMotors. “In addition to being environmentally-friendly, the drastic reduction in pollutants is better for the overall health of the patients being transported.”

To celebrate the first patient in the U.S. to be transported in an all-electric ambulance, DocGo will be hosting a ribbon cutting with a hospital partner in New York at a later date.

Orcutt (CA) Residents Discuss New Fire Station

Residents in Orcutt (CA) recently discussed the new fire station—which will be the city’s third—reports KSBY.

Orcutt, an unincorporated area that often relies on Santa Barbara County for emergency services, has two stations: Station 26 by Hwy 101 and Station 21 by old town, the report notes.

The new Station 25 will be located on the north end of Orcutt on Union Valley Parkway. An increase in population led to its need, according to the report.

Some residents say they wish the station was positioned further north within Orcutt, though others are happy, saying it’s long overdue.

Officials hope to have the new station up and running within the next two and a half years.

FDIC 2022 Preview: Searchable vs. Survivable

Firefighter Sean Duffy, Wyandotte (MI) Fire Department

On the fireground, time is not ours to waste. Our efforts should be directed to give us the greatest chance at rescuing our victims and doing so in the most efficient manner. This class covers data gained from 2,000 rescue surveys and stresses that time does matter when it comes to victims of fire. Emphasis will be placed on the search size-up, order of assignments, and being cognizant of our terminology. It is important that we use facts, not fear, to choose the appropriate course of action, putting our citizens first and increasing their survivability rate. In today’s fire environment, we simply do not have much time; we must identify our searchable spaces immediately. To accomplish this, we must make educated decisions that support an aggressive search culture. Life is, and always will be, our number one priority. It should never be the mindset of “what’s good for us” but rather we must concentrate our efforts on what is best for them.

FDIC International 2022 takes place April 25-30, 2022.
