Firefighters battle dangerous fire inside Spokane Valley silo

Firefighters had their hands full with a difficult and dangerous fire inside a seed silo in Spokane Valley overnight. Spokane Valley firefighters were called to Spokane Seed on East Alki Avenue just after midnight on Friday for reports of a smoldering fire inside a multi-story storage silo. The fire created a major risk for firefighters with dust that was extremely flammable and had the potential to explode.

Feds finally find contractor to build 22,000 square foot, state-of-the-art fire station in Grand Coulee

After canceling deals with two other contractors who fell short of their obligations with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the federal government has inked an agreement through a surety with a new builder. Through an agreement with the surety-Berkley Insurance Company-the insurer has selected J.S. Held LLC to coordinate the project efforts with National Native American Construction Inc.

Selkirk High School softball team raises money for teacher displaced by house fire

A small-town high school softball team was quick to act, in more ways than one, when tragedy struck close to home. The Selkirk High School softball team was in the middle of practice when freshman Mackenzie Zaren saw smoke from third base. The smoke was coming from a house across the street, owned by their science teacher and middle school coach Rachel Groves Wold.

Wenatchee Valley kids take control of police, fire agencies — for a day

Eight youngsters took over local law and fire agencies Thursday for the day. And some had their own ideas of how things should be done. East Wenatchee Police Department Chief Edgar Hernandez, 9, decided everyone in uniform had to do five push-ups. Of course, they obliged. His mom, Oralia Valdovines, then pinned on his badge.

New Lexington (OH) Fire Department Takes Delivery of New Engine

The New Lexington Fire Department recently took delivery of its new engine/tanker.

The apparatus replaces a 30-year-old truck, and the purchase was made possible via federal grant.

“Our truck committee has chosen a Rosenbauer fire truck from All American Fire Equipment,” the department writes on Facebook.

“We want to thank everyone that made this possible: The Village of New Lexington Council and Mayor, Mickey Smith with, Ohio First Responder Grants, LLC , All American Fire Equipment, and all of the residents of New Lexington for their continued support.”
