Crews switch things up after record breaking fire seasons in East Washington

Washington has had 226 wildfires as of Thursday and more than half of them were in Eastern Washington. Firefighters are expecting well over 300 wildfires in just six counties this fire season. "The predictions right now are that we will have a 'normal' fire season," said Guy Gifford with the Department of Natural Resources.

Boat fire at Des Moines fuel dock sends up tower of smoke

Firefighters responded Thursday morning after flames broke out in a 40-foot fishing vessel moored next to a fuel dock at Des Moines Marina. The fire sent a cloud of smoke over the marina that could be seen blocks away. One man was aboard the vessel when the fire broke out. He was able to jump off onto the dock and was not injured.

1 under arrest after motorhome destroyed by fire in Lynnwood

One person is under arrest after a motorhome went up in flames overnight in Lynnwood, fire officials said. Police and fire crews responded to the scene, near 159th Place Southwest and Admiralty Way, at about 3 a.m. Thursday after receiving initial calls about explosions in the area. When firefighters arrived, they found a RV fully engulfed in flames on a dead end street.

City leaders voice concerns over oil trains in Spokane

Local leaders gathered on Wednesday night to voice their concerns over oil trains passing through Spokane. City officials have met to discuss oil trains in the past, but Wednesday’s meeting welcomed the voices of local emergency responders. Among them was the head of the local fire union who said that he and his fellow responders would be totally unprepared for an oil train disaster.

Firefighters contain Benton County trailer fire caused by overheated fan

Benton County fire crews say they put a house fire out quickly Wednesday before it was able to spread to the rest of the home. Crews say a fire broke out around 2 p.m. at East Byrson Brown Road Wednesday. Firefighters say the blaze burned much of the kitchen but didn't spread beyond that. No one was home at the time and nobody was hurt by the fire say crews.
