Texas fire department dive team conducts criminal investigations underwater despite outdated equipment

PHOTOS: A diver with the Port Arthur Fire Department entered the Sabine-Neches Ship Channel in January in an attempted recovery. Flames engulfed firefighters as they tried saving 3-year-old, Mississippi chief says

A group of Mississippi firefighters caught fire during their desperate attempt to save a 3-year-old from a burning apartment on March 1, according to the Greenville Fire Department. The boy died in the fire. But the valiant attempt to rescue him at all costs is being hailed as heroic in Greenville, 150 miles southwest of Memphis, Tennessee.

Spokane Valley Fire Department responds to residential fire

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at approximately 8:30 am today in the East 5300 Block of Sharp Avenue in Spokane Valley. Callers reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the structure and called 911. The first arriving crews pulled a preconnected hand line from an engine to knock down the fire on the interior of the structure.

PHOTOS: Horse rescued from abandoned well on Whidbey Island

North Whidbey Fire and Rescue responded to a rather unusual call on Wednesday morning-- a horse from a nearby farm had fallen into an abandoned well. Along with North Whidbey Fire, Navy Region Northwest Fire and Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue also responded to a stretch of land near SR 20 and Monkey Hill Road around 9:15 a.
